Harding University High School Microfilm Grant
The Charlotte Black Film Festival was proud to support the next generation of storytellers through our Micro-Film Grant. In partnership with Harding University, we awarded a $5,000 check to a team of Harding students to produce an original short documentary film.
The grant provided the students with the resources they needed to bring their vision to life from development and production to post-production. The completed documentary will premiere at the 15th Annual Charlotte Black Film Festival, giving the students a unique opportunity to showcase their work on a nationally recognized platform for Black cinema and culture.
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to elevating emerging voices and supporting stories that highlight the richness, resilience, and diversity of our communities.
Filmmaker's Microfilm Grant
As part of its ongoing support for independent Black filmmakers, the Charlotte Black Film Festival
awarded funding to 20 recipients through its Microfilm Grant. Each selected filmmaker received a financial grant to help bring their short film projects to life.
The funded microfilms explore a wide range of themes from identity and community to innovation and cultural heritage demonstrating the impact of bold, concise storytelling. These films will be screened at the 15th Annual Charlotte Black Film Festival, offering recipients a platform to showcase their work to an engaged audience and connect with industry leaders.
Through this grant program, the Charlotte Black Film Festival continues to invest in emerging voices and champion the creative power of underrepresented storytellers.
