Drinking from the colored-only water fountain, entering the backdoor of a restaurant, and using the colored-only restrooms were a part of growing up in the segregated south. Remaining in the south as others moved north for a better life, William “Pete” Kennedy’s desire was to enhance his city’s progression through consistent positive change – one decision at a time.
